Disc dispenser is a device that allows to place antibiotic discs on the agarsurface of petri dishes.
- Airtight container with desiccant
- Label for the identification of antibiotics positioned on top of the container
- Block-cartridges system positioned at the base of the plunger
- Height adjustable base (1 cm)
The discs are positioned at equidistance along a circumference of about 16 cm. Each disk is pressed on the agar surface with a pressure sufficient to ensure a homogeneous diffusion of the antibiotic.
Disc dispenser in its container with desiccant provide to protect from moisture. With cartridges inside store the dispenser at 2 to 8 °C.
The desiccant is active whilst pale yellow or white in colour.
When green regenerate as indicated below:
Dry in a hot air oven at 50 to 55 °C for 8 to 12 hours (or in a vacuum oven for 2 to 3 hours)
Ensure that the desiccant is pale yellow after drying before re-use
Discard desiccant when a pale yellow colour is not achieved after drying
Before cleaning, always remove all cartridges from the dispenser. Clean the bottom of the dispenser and the ejection holes of the discs using a swab.
